The provider shall establish a planned program of developmentally appropriate activities at the facility, which promotes the social, intellectual, emotional and physical development of each child. The provider shall have an understanding and respect for the needs of children and their families who are bilingual and/or whose culture may differ from their own. The provider shall have an understanding of the special needs of children with disabilities receiving family child care services. An appropriate plan for each child's individual care shall be developed with the child's parent(s) at intake and updated as necessary to meet the child's changing needs.

61-Administration of Medication-Order from an authorized prescriber/parent's permission
No medication shall be administered to a child without the written order of an authorized prescriber and the written permission of the child's parent(s) which shall be on file at the facility. The provider and substitute shall administer medication only in accordance with the written order and shall not administer the first dose of any medication, except in an emergency. The parents shall be notified of any medication administration errors immediately in writing and the error shall be documented in the record. Investigational drugs shall not be administered.

59-Administration of Medication-Training requirements
Prior to the administration of any medication, the licensed provider and any substitute(s) who are responsible for administering the medications shall first be trained by a physician, physician assistant, advanced practice registered nurse or registered nurse in the methods of administration of medications and shall receive written approval from the trainer which indicates that the trainee has successfully completed a training program. A provider or substitute trained and approved to administer medication shall also be present whenever a child who has orders to receive medication is enrolled and present at the facility.

60-Administration of Medication-Training approval documents/training outline
Upon completion of the required medication administration training program, the training approval and an outline of the curriculum content which verifies all mandated requirements shall be on file at the facility.
